Current Events at AI

The Adath Israel programming year runs from August 1st – July 31st. With the new year about to begin, we will have our annual General Meeting on Sunday, July 24th at 5 pm. Please save this date and plan to participate!

In addition to several reports regarding this past year, we need to discuss what 5783 will look like for Adath Israel. For example, should we hire a Chazzan for the high holidays? Should we have one or two minyanim (earlier and later) on Rosh Hashana/Yom Kippur? (Why would we do that? To cater to a diverse membership, which has different levels of interest and observance.) Should we have regular Friday night dinners? Should we raise funds to pay down the mortgage? Where is the shul headed? Who should be on the new board? Maybe YOU? If you’re interested, please let me know.

This coming weekend, at least five of our regular minyan attendees will be out of town. Therefore, it would be greatly appreciated if the people who usually come later will come earlier and if the people who do not always come, will choose to attend.

Recently several people have asked me how I choose the topics of my Zoom classes. The simple answer is that I look for things that I think will be of interest to people, especially to me. However, I’m more than happy to take requests. As a matter of fact, several times this year, as a result of something that was raised in class, we ended up spending a few subsequent classes on that topic. For example, on Monday nights we have a class focusing on the meaning of the Amidah. However, due to participant input, we’ve digressed and are currently exploring the origins of the Hebrew Alphabet. I look forward to hearing what would interest you!
