He was ordained by the Chief Rabbinate in Jerusalem and has served previously as a congregational Rabbi in Charleston, South Carolina and Irvine, California. In 1897, Theodore Herzl founded the World Zionist Organization. His goal was to create the ideological and practical infrastructure for the modern State of Israel. In the time since, the World Zionist Congress, which serves as the governing body of the World Zionist Organization, with delegates from all religious and ideological streams of Judaism, has worked to create policies and distribute funding for Zionist organizations in Israel and around the world.
Every 8 years, elections are held to seat the World Zionist Congress. Between now and April 30, 2015, we have the exciting opportunity to seat the 37th World Zionist Congress. Voting in the elections is a responsibility that we must take very seriously.
Just as religious Israelis vote for Members of Knesset who will defend Torah values in all matters of state, religious Zionists in America also have a voice in deciding Israel’s future by casting votes for the delegates who will best represent their views in the World Zionist Congress.
Running under the banner "Vote Torah," the Religious Zionist Slate, a party within the World Zionist Congress comprised of delegates from America's foundational religious Zionist organizations, seeks to strengthen Israel's "Jewish soul" by championing the continued growth and support of Torah and Zionist education worldwide, the promotion of Aliyah to Israel, the development of religious outreach programming worldwide, and the security of a united Jerusalem.
By voting for the Religious Zionist Slate, you will seat delegates who will focus on:
*Building bridges and increasing unity within Am Israel;
*Preserving and enriching Torah values and Jewish life in Israel and around the world;
*Securing a significant amount of the billion dollar programming budget for informal education and outreach programs worldwide that exemplify true Torah values;
*Ensuring the future of religious Zionist ideals.
WHO CAN VOTE?
You are eligible to vote if you are: Jewish, A citizen or permanent resident of the United States, At least 18 years of age by June 2015.
